Combating Copper Theft: Protecting America's Critical Connectivity
FCC Commissioner Olivia Britt Trusty recently warned that copper theft and
vandalism are emerging as major threats to America’s communications
infrastructure—causing widespread outages and disrupting essential services like
911, healthcare, and government operations. The illegal removal of copper cables
isn’t just vandalism—it’s a direct threat to public safety and technological
progress. At DataRemote, Inc.., we’re helping prevent these vulnerabilities by
replacing aging copper lines with secure, resilient wireless POTS replacement
solutions, protecting critical infrastructure and supporting the transition to
next-generation networks like fiber and 5G.

Investing in Florida's Technology Workforce
We’re proud to highlight Timor Brik, Chief Operating Officer at DataRemote, who
continues to lead with vision and action in our mission to modernize
connectivity.
Recently, Timor joined business leaders at the Florida State Capitol to discuss
the future of workforce development across the state. During the session,
DataRemote’s focus on local talent—especially our strategic partnership with
Miami Dade College—was a featured initiative.
By leveraging apprenticeship grants, local hiring fairs and early-stage
collaboration with the K-12 system, we’re not just creating jobs—we’re building
careers and strengthening the ecosystem.
Big thanks to everyone who made this possible and to Timor for steering our
approach every day.

Reliable Elevator Emergency Communications
In the event of an elevator malfunction, entrapment, or other emergencies,
passengers can use the call box to establish voice communication with a
designated responder, such as a 24/7 monitoring center, on-site security
personnel, or emergency services like the fire department.
Elevator call boxes are traditionally wired to analog POTS (Plain Old Telephone
Service) lines. The PIAB is specifically designed to emulate a POTS line,
allowing it to interface seamlessly with existing analog call box hardware
without requiring hardware replacement.
Elevator emergency phones must meet E911 requirements and ensure uninterrupted
emergency communication. The PIAB helps satisfy these requirements:
Line Seizure: It supports call
prioritization and automatic dialing when the emergency button is pressed.
Battery Backup: Often includes
integrated UPS or battery backup options for required uptime during power loss.
Location Services: Can be configured
with static address info for accurate E911 dispatching.
If you're managing a building or property portfolio and need to
future-proof elevator communication systems, the DataRemote PIAB is a reliable,
compliant, and cost-effective.
The high-rise building's telecom room supports 72 elevator call boxes that
communicate via the PIAB.
