Gratitude in action: DataRemote supporting our community this Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, DataRemote, Inc. is reflecting on the power of community and the importance of lending a helping hand. We are incredibly proud to share that our team rallied together to participate in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ “Helping Hands for Education” program.

The event was warmly hosted at iTECH Thomas A. Edison Educational Center, where we had the honor of adopting five families from nearby local schools. Thanks to this initiative, 28 individuals sat down to a full, warm Thanksgiving meal this holiday.

Seeing our office fill up with these baskets—packed not just with food, but with care—was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a cause greater than ourselves.

We extend our sincere thanks to our amazing employees for their generosity, and special thanks to iTECH Thomas A. Edison Educational Center for hosting, and the M-DCPS Office of Community Partnerships for facilitating this vital program.

How Phone Line Communication Worked for Older Meters

Older metering systems transmitted usage data over traditional phone lines to a utility’s central system. This approach eliminated the need for in-person meter readings, though each location still required its own dedicated phone line. Data collection was automated: the central system would call the meter to retrieve usage information, or in some cases, the meter would initiate an outbound call to report its readings.

This proprietary and innovative solution from DataRemote will help any customers that want to replace their old POTS line with PIAB. The PIAB is used mostly in the AMR space. (AMR: Automatic Meter Reading)

DataRemote PIAB provides a transparent cellular solution so there is no need for the customer to maintain their POTS lines. It is also a cost-effective solution.
