Something New Is Taking Shape
The POTS landscape is changing—and so are the expectations placed on replacement
solutions. As networks evolve and requirements become more nuanced, flexibility
is no longer a nice-to-have; it’s essential.
At DataRemote, we’ve been working behind the scenes on a new POTS replacement
solution designed with adaptability in mind. Built to support change rather than
fight it, this upcoming solution reflects a more modular way of thinking—one
that allows systems to evolve as needs, technologies, and environments
shift.
We’re not ready to share the full details just yet. But what we can say is this:
the future of POTS replacement shouldn’t be rigid—and what’s coming is anything
but.
Stay tuned.

Certification News
A Major Milestone: AT&T Achieves New York Certification for DataRemote
Hardware
As legacy copper POTS infrastructure continues to sunset, ensuring uninterrupted
life-safety communications remains critical—especially in complex urban
environments like New York City.
Through deployment on the AT&T network, the VAB-1 POTS replacement solution
has achieved approval from the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY)
for use in life-safety communications. This approval confirms the solution meets
the stringent performance and reliability expectations required for applications
such as fire alarm signaling, elevator phones, and emergency communications
across NYC facilities.
Designed to support NFPA 72–aligned use cases, the VAB-1 delivers a reliable,
modern alternative to traditional copper lines while maintaining the operational
integrity demanded by authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
As the transition away from POTS accelerates, solutions that combine
carrier-grade networks with authority-approved performance standards will be
essential in maintaining compliance and protecting public safety.
