The Future of POTS Replacement
The DataRemote team is excited to be in full development mode for our next
generation of POTS replacement products. Another wave of POTS infrastructure
shutdowns is already starting in the market. To help our resellers prepare for
the ramp-up in demand, we're making dramatic improvements to our
infrastructure, XT software, and remote management platform—alongside
introducing a completely new device.
Our engineering team is finalizing the design, and we expect to share the
official details this summer.
We are thrilled to continue innovating in a market where POTS IN A BOX has
become the most reliable machine-to-machine communication vehicle for legacy
equipment.
More to come!

Industry News
AT&T's Copper Shutdown Goes "Wireless-First!"
Since starting its copper transition, AT&T states it has sold the equivalent
of 5 x Eiffel Towers worth of copper, totaling approximately 112 million pounds
recycled so far. AT&T is accelerating the shutdown of its 70-year-old copper
network by adopting a new "wireless-first" strategy using DataRemote,
Inc. devices. Light Reading interviewed EVP Susan Johnson, who stated that the
carrier is prioritizing the retirement of copper lines in areas where it does
not plan to build fiber. This shift comes as AT&T gains regulatory momentum,
with the Federal Communications Commission recently granting approval to
discontinue legacy services in over 30% of its wire centers marking a
significant step in its goal to decommission the bulk of its copper footprint by
2030.

Tech Corner
Receiver-Side POTS Replacement for Alarm Central Stations
With the increased rate of copper shutdown in the market, we are starting to see
more interest in "receiver-side" solutions. DataRemote has been
focused on the development of best-in-class solutions to support M2M
communication for alarm panels, modems, and other analog equipment installed at
the end customer's premise. However, there is also a growing demand for
POTS line replacement in high-density use cases for alarm receiving stations
that receive calls from fire & burglar alarm panels.
DataRemote is working with alarm monitoring companies to develop support for
inbound call receivers. A solution for alarm central stations is vital to avoid
service disruption due to discontinuance of the POTS services by carriers.
Please let us know if you have interest in this particular use case.
