Following last month’s pre-order announcement, we are taking a closer look at what makes the 90X5 different: its modular architecture.

The 90X5 Modular PIAB / Business Gateway Platform is designed to separate key system functions into configurable components. The platform shown includes a WWAN module for wireless connectivity, a core router with integrated ATA functionality, and an optional battery pack and charger for extended backup power.

This modular approach allows the platform to be configured around the requirements of each deployment rather than forcing every customer into a single fixed design. Organizations can select the connectivity and power capabilities needed for applications such as telephone line replacement, internet backup, fixed wireless access, voice services, and business continuity.

The architecture is also designed with long-term flexibility in mind. As network requirements, technologies, or deployment conditions change, modular components can support future configurations without replacing the entire platform.

With the 90X5, DataRemote is building more than a new device. We are developing an adaptable connectivity platform designed to support today’s requirements while remaining ready for what comes next.

Alarm Auto Detect: Faster, Smarter Alarm Installations

Fire and burglar alarm panels can transmit using different DTMF and modem-based signaling formats, including Contact ID and SIA. If a replacement line is configured for the wrong protocol, the panel’s first signal test can fail even when the wiring is correct.

DataRemote’s Alarm Auto Detect removes that manual configuration step. When the alarm panel’s dialer is connected to the appliance’s RJ-11 FXS port, the line recognizes the signaling format the panel is transmitting and automatically selects the matching communication protocol. No panel rewiring or reprogramming is required.

Connect the panel: The alarm panel connects to the DataRemote appliance the same way it connected to the copper line.

Identify the format: The DataRemote line listens for and recognizes the panel’s signaling format instead of requiring the installer to look it up and select it manually.

Configure automatically: The line applies the matching protocol so the panel can report to the central station. The installer verifies the received signal instead of troubleshooting an incorrect setting.

The result is faster test-and-turn-up, fewer misconfigured installations, and fewer return trips. Supported configurations preserve essential alarm behaviors such as line seizure and panel supervision. Availability and exact detected formats vary by appliance model and configuration.
